Harrisonburg Reckless Driving Lawyer: Victor Ortiz is a professional boxer and an actor. Ortiz was the WBC Welterweight Champion in 2011 and was consistently rated in the top three fighters at his weight for much of his career. Ortiz acted in The Expendables and in Southpaw. He also appeared on Dancing With the Stars. Ortiz grew up in Kansas to Mexican parents. For a time, Ortiz was raised by his single parent Father who suffered from alcoholism. Eventually, Ortiz and his five brothers and sisters entered into the care of Kansas child protective services.
Harrisonburg Reckless Driving Lawyer: Before his father left, Ortiz took up boxing and showed great promise. Ortiz was noticed by Ron Lyle at a Salvation Army Community Center. Lyle mentored Ortiz into Junior Olympics where he was undefeated. Lyle was then noticed by Roberto Garcia who began training Ortiz. At 17 years of age, Ortiz entered the United States Olympic boxing trials but was eliminated in the semifinals. In 2004, Ortiz entered the professional boxing circuit. During his career, Ortiz fought many great boxers including Floyd Mayweather.
Harrisonburg Reckless Driving Lawyer: In 2016 Ortiz was arrested for DUI in Ventura County, California. He breath test registered 0.21 grams per 210 Liters of breath. That breath alcohol content qualified Ortiz for the super DUI designation which carries greater penalties than a standard first DUI. The DUI may not be Ortiz’s worst legal problem since he was on probation for a 2015 assault and battery charge at the Kenny Chesney concert held at the Rose Bowl. Ortiz should be worried about the “comeback” time from the 2015 charge.
Seahawk Derrick Coleman Arrested for reckless driving: After being released by Minnesota, Coleman was signed by the Seattle Seahawks. Coleman played well for Seattle and was part of the Super Bowl XLVIII winning team. On October 15, 2015 Coleman was suspended by the Seahawks for his involvement in an alleged hit and run. According to Washington State law enforcement Coleman was involved in a potential reckless driving accident and then walked or ran away from the crash site. Since there were serious injuries to persons involved, Coleman is facing a possible felony hit and run charge. It has been suggested that Coleman fell asleep at the wheel. Coleman denies that drugs or alcohol played any part in his collision. One suggestion that has not been made is that Coleman may have suffered a concussion in the collision. Since Coleman is a football player he has certainly suffered concussions before. The recent discovery of CTE in football players makes it very likely that any concussion would have a serious effect on Coleman’s ability to rationally deal with the aftermath of a motor vehicle crash.
